Step by step
Copy the video link
Open the video on Redgifs. Click the address bar and press Command+C, or use the Share button and choose Copy link.
Open the downloader and press Command+V
Go to this site’s home page and press Command+V anywhere on the page. The link is pasted and the video is fetched straight away.
Check the result
You see a preview, the video’s length and size, and a badge that says whether it has sound.
Click Download HD or Download SD
Safari may ask whether to allow downloads from this site. Click Allow, and the MP4 is saved.
Open the file
Click the downloads arrow in the browser toolbar, or open the Downloads folder from the Dock or Finder.
Where the video is saved on a Mac
- Safari, Chrome and Firefox save to the Downloads folder by default.
- In Safari you can change this in Settings, on the General tab, under “File download location”.
- Double-click the file to play it in QuickTime Player. Press the Space bar in Finder for a quick preview.

- Add it to Photos
- Drag the MP4 from Downloads into the Photos app if you want it in your library.

Does it work in Safari on Mac?
Yes. Safari, Chrome, Firefox and other current browsers all work.
Do I need to install anything?
No. There is no app or extension. The downloader is a web page.
Why did Safari ask to allow downloads?
Safari asks once per site before saving files. Click Allow and the download starts. The file is a normal MP4 video.
