How to Download Redgifs Videos With Sound

Updated October 6, 2026

To download a Redgifs video with its audio, paste the video’s link into a Redgifs downloader with sound support and save the HD or SD file. Our Redgifs downloader fetches the full video file, so the sound comes with it whenever the original has any.

The rest of this guide covers the steps, why some downloads come out silent, and what to check when a saved video plays without audio.

How to use a Redgifs downloader with sound

There is no app, extension or account. The tool is a web page and works in any browser.

  1. Open the video on Redgifs and copy its link. Use the Share button and copy the link, or copy the address from the browser bar on a computer.
  2. Open the Redgifs downloader and paste the link into the box.
  3. Press Get video. On a computer you can press Ctrl+V anywhere on the page, which pastes the link and fetches the video in one go.
  4. Look at the result. You see a preview, the duration, the resolution and a badge that says Has sound or No sound.
  5. Press Download HD or Download SD. The MP4 saves to your device.

Both buttons give you a file with audio when the badge says “Has sound”. HD is the highest quality Redgifs stores for the video. SD is a smaller, lower-resolution file made for phones. The choice affects picture quality and file size, not the sound. If you want help choosing, see HD vs SD.

Why some Redgifs downloads have no sound

Redgifs keeps more than one copy of every video. Alongside the HD and SD files, it stores a separate silent copy with the audio track removed.

Some downloaders grab that silent copy. The picture looks right, the file plays, and there is nothing to hear. The video on Redgifs has sound, but the downloaded file never did.

Other methods have their own problems:

  • Screen recording often captures no audio at all, or picks up notification sounds and the microphone instead. The picture quality is also lower than the original file.
  • Saving a preview from a page or a feed can give you a short, muted clip instead of the full video.

Our tool never serves the silent copy. It fetches the full HD or SD file, and both of those carry the original audio.

How to tell if a video has audio before you download

Check the badge on the result.

  • Has sound means the original video has an audio track, and both the HD and SD downloads include it.
  • No sound means the uploader’s video is silent. There is no audio on Redgifs to save, and no downloader can add it.

This saves you from downloading a file and then wondering whether something went wrong. If the badge says “No sound”, the silence is part of the original.

The file has sound but I can’t hear it

If the badge said “Has sound” and the saved video is quiet, the cause is almost always the device or the player, not the file. Work through these checks.

On iPhone

  1. Check the Ring/Silent switch on the side of the phone, or the Silent Mode setting in Control Center. Some apps mute video while the phone is on silent.
  2. Turn the volume up with the side buttons while the video is playing. The buttons control ringer volume at other times.
  3. If you are watching the file in the Files app, tap the speaker icon in the player if it shows as muted.
  4. Move the video to Photos: open the file, tap Share, then choose Save Video. Play it from the Photos app and tap the speaker icon there.

The full iPhone steps are in the iPhone guide.

On Android

  1. Press a volume button and make sure the media volume is up, not only the ring volume.
  2. Check that the phone is not sending audio to a Bluetooth speaker or headphones you forgot about.
  3. Try opening the file in a different player or your gallery app.

See the Android guide for where the file is saved.

On a computer

  1. Check the system volume and the volume slider in the video player itself.
  2. Make sure the right output device is selected, such as speakers instead of a disconnected headset.
  3. Open the file in another player. A standard MP4 plays in the built-in player on Windows and in QuickTime Player on a Mac.

Quick summary

Paste the Redgifs link, press Get video, check for the “Has sound” badge, and pick HD or SD. If a download from somewhere else came out muted, it was most likely the silent copy, and fetching the video again here gives you the full file.

If something else goes wrong, see Redgifs downloader not working or the FAQ. Save videos for your own viewing only, and do not repost someone else’s video without their permission.
