To copy a Redgifs link, open the video, use its Share button and choose the copy link option. On a computer you can also copy the address from the browser bar while the video’s own page is open.
Once you have the link, you can paste it into our Redgifs downloader to save the video as an MP4. The sections below cover each device, the link formats that work, and links that come from Reddit posts.
How to copy a Redgifs link on a phone
These steps work in a mobile browser such as Safari or Chrome.
- Open the video on Redgifs so it is the one playing on screen.
- Tap the Share button on the video.
- Choose the option to copy the link.
- Switch to the downloader, tap the box and paste.
If you cannot find a Share button, use the browser instead:
- Tap the video so it opens on its own page. The address should contain
/watch/followed by the video’s name. - Tap the address bar to show the full address.
- Select it and tap Copy.
A feed or a search page has one address for the whole page, not for each video. If you copy the address from there, the downloader cannot tell which video you mean. Open the single video first, then copy.
How to copy a Redgifs link on a computer
You have two simple options on Windows or Mac.
From the address bar
- Click the video so it opens on its own watch page.
- Click the address bar. The whole address is selected.
- Press Ctrl+C on Windows, or Command+C on a Mac.
From the Share button
- Click the Share button on the video.
- Click the copy link option.
Then open the Redgifs downloader. On a computer you can press Ctrl+V anywhere on the page. The link is pasted and the video is fetched without clicking the box or the button.
Which Redgifs link formats work
You do not have to find one exact format. The tool reads the video’s name out of any of these:
| Type | Example |
|---|---|
| Watch page | redgifs.com/watch/videoname |
| Embed link | redgifs.com/ifr/videoname |
| Image link | i.redgifs.com/i/videoname.jpg |
| Direct file | media.redgifs.com/VideoName.mp4 |
| Bare video name | videoname |
Capital letters do not matter, and neither does extra text after the name, such as tracking parameters that get added when a link is shared.
Links that do not work:
- Profile pages. The tool takes one video at a time and does not download profiles.
- Search, tag and feed pages. They do not point to a single video.
- Image posts and galleries. Only videos are supported.
- Private videos. The link may look normal, but the video cannot be fetched.
- Reddit post links. See the next section.
Copying the link from a Reddit post
Many video posts on Reddit are hosted on Redgifs, but the Reddit post’s address is not a Redgifs link. If you paste it, the tool tells you to copy the Redgifs link instead.
To get the right link:
- Open the Reddit post.
- Look for the link to redgifs.com on the post. It is often shown as the post’s source link or domain next to the title.
- Open that link so the video loads on Redgifs. On a phone, you may need to choose to open it in your browser.
- Copy the link from there with the Share button or the address bar.
On a computer, you can often skip a step: right-click the post’s link to redgifs.com and copy the link address directly.
If the post has no link to redgifs.com anywhere, the video is probably hosted by Reddit itself and is not a Redgifs video. Our tool does not support those. The full process is in how to save Redgifs videos from Reddit posts.
Check the link before you paste it
A link that was cut short is the most common reason a video cannot be found. Before pasting, check three things:
- It contains
redgifs.com. - It points to one video, usually with
/watch/or/ifr/in it. - The video name at the end is complete. Names are usually several words run together, and a missing letter is enough to break the link.
A quick test is to paste the link into a new browser tab. If the video plays, the link is good.
What to do after you copy the link
- Open the Redgifs downloader.
- Paste the link and press Get video.
- Check the preview, the duration, the resolution and the Has sound or No sound badge.
- Press Download HD or Download SD to save the MP4.
The file goes to your Downloads folder on Android, Windows and Mac. On iPhone, Safari saves it to Files > Downloads. The iPhone guide and Android guide show each step with the exact place to find the file.
If the link still does not work
If the tool says the video cannot be found, copy the link again from the video’s own page. If it asks you to wait, try again in a minute.
